As a young teacher at Flax Hill in the 1970’s I had the good fortune to work with Brenda. She has to be one of the most amazing colleagues I ever worked alongside. Brenda was a complete original. The children enjoyed the classroom environment she provided for them though knew, she stood no messing. Brenda loved teaching story writing and it was no surprise when she became an author herself. She has to be the most accurate of blackboard throwers in an age when you could just about get away with it!! She was heavily involved in drama productions which were always among the highlights of the school year. As I moved onto headship she would be one of the first supply teachers I would call upon and would always appear with that huge smile of hers. She loved adventure and her garden but always spoke with the greatest affection and love of her children and grandchildren. I look forward to meeting the family when her life is celebrated in November.
