My beautiful grandad, I don’t think I ever said thank you for all the little things, like sitting through my ‘sweet parties’ and being force-fed Quavers and dolly mixtures under the threat of me reporting you to Grandma Marnie. You never never stood a chance.
I keep thinking about those days at Pickering Pastures, watching you release your pigeons. Sitting in the middle of those beautiful yellow fields, with our snacks and drinks. We were just glad to be there. Nothing fancy, just time together, which turned out to be everything.
One of the things I’ll always carry with me is that you accepted me into your life immediately. No questions, no fuss. Just pure love, and that will always remain in my heart.
You were a little firecracker, strong, hilarious, a little stubborn 👀 but always there when I needed you.
I miss you. And I always will.
