Elise was a first cousin to my Dad, Louis Shields. Although she was a decade younger than my parents, she was very close to them. When my Dad was serving in Palestine in 1947, Elise would write to him and he would write back to her.
In recent years, my husband and I had several conversations with Elise. She would tell us about her six wonderful grandsons and about Archie, her beloved late husband. We would tell her about our 2 young grandchildren, and she loved to hear about the hedgehogs that used to visit our garden. We will miss Elise dearly.
Love from Jean and Dean Garratt.

Aunt Elise was not really my Aunt but a very dear friend of my late mother Helen Johnstone (nee Lang). They were very close, and we were as families while growing up. My Mum passed away in 1983 and now, in some sense, Aunt Elise and my Mum are reunited.
