Mrs Barnett became Head of St James the year after my daughter started there in 1972 and also when both my granddaughters attended in the 1990s. When I retired I deliberately chose to volunteer at St James because of Mrs Barnett. She remembered all my family who have such fond memories of her. She was a wonderful head teacher who put her heart and soul into her work:there for 40 years. It wasn’t a job to her, it was a vocation and she was loved by children, parents and staff.

Such a kind and beautiful lady who was genuinely interested and proud of the children and families that she dealt with throughout her time at St James's. If you had any concerns whatsoever she was there to listen and support you in anyway that she possibly could. She was a great support to both my daughter and myself as we went through difficult times and her interest and kindness even extended into my daughters early years at senior school. I am proud to say that I met her. She was a very special part of our lives and always fondly remembered.

A wonderful lady and fantastic headmistress, who will leave a lasting legacy with all the children she taught and cared for at East Crompton St James. May you rest in peace.
