FrankCOTTLE(Francis) The Rhondda boy (Porth county as well, if you don't mind) who did okay! Born on the 1st April 1939 but definitely no April Fool. Welshman through and through never forgetting his roots - despite having ridden his bicycle from The Valleys to Bath at the tender age of 17 to work for Woolworths! It was there that he was to meet a beautiful 16 year old, Carol, whom he was to call his wife and share the rest of his life with. Married for nearly 60 years, they always adored each other, walking every step hand in hand, and even renewed their vows in 2010 in the presence of their three children, Hazel, Martin and Lynne, to whom he was not just Dad but friend and "know it all". Not to forget, he was also a beloved Grandfather to five, Papa to two, Great Grandfather to one and a bump due later this year. He was a proud and very well respected Freemason in both Bath and Bristol where he ensured all charities and brethren were never forgotten. Loyal rugby fanatic whose passion for the game was from all local junior clubs, those "over the bridge" and, of course, BATH RFC. Fair to say he ruffled a few feathers along the way but his heart was always true. He simply loved the game and the club. He organised the sponsorship at a time in the 80's when it was unknown territory and his biggest claim (besides being tour manager during that time) was "forming Bath Youth" having contacted all junior clubs looking for "the next generation". Another milestone in his life was undoubtedly deciding to go it alone and forming The Lansdown Brokerage in 1979 after many years of working in the insurance industry. What started off as the front porch in his home soon became an office at Monmouth Place where nothing was ever left outstanding on his desk. He gave and, importantly, always kept his word. He was an exceptionally good and honest business man. On the 15th May 2020, having spent a sunny morning in his loved garden, he fell asleep in his chair with Carol, his childhood sweetheart, still by his side. He truly was a character never to be forgotten. He was Frank by name and Frank by nature but, to us, his family, he was so much more. To his wife, Carol, he remains, and always will remain, the love of her life. Due to present restrictions we cannot give Frank the send off we wish and therefore a private ceremony will be held on the 19th June. However, we hope to arrange a memorial to celebrate his life in the future and details will follow. All will be welcomed to remember "the ol'man".
