Dearest Mr Abbey, you inspired so many of us at Manning. I have never forgotten your passion and commitment to music and to our school. You worked so hard for us. I was part of The Madrigal Choir and enjoyed every second of it. You were also a caring House Master. Thank you RIP X

Remember Mr Abbey as a dedicated music teacher during my time at Manning Grammar School (1970-1975) I was in the choir throughout school & it was mainly due to his enthusiasm for teaching that I'm such a lover of classical music , to this day. RIP

Dear family Mr Abbey was such an icon at Manning Grammar school and I developed a love and respect of the great Handel’s Messiah and the fabulous Zadock The Priest which we sung in five parts in the Albert Hall and I think of him every time I hear it an appreciate how lucky I was to have a music teacher who shared this music with me. I didn’t realise at the time how important this would impact in my life. I managed to track him down just before covid to thank him for introducing me to music I would never otherwise have heard and also to apologise as at the time I was probably not as appreciative as I am now. I was so surprised when he wrote back to me a lovely letter happy that he had educated me in music appreciation. He will be missed by so many ex pupils but remembered with great respect and fondness.

Mr Abbey taught me music from 1978 to 1983 at Manning School. He was such a lovely man and so dedicated to his work and family. So sad to hear of his passing but very happy to read that he remarried and found happiness after the death of his first wife. Happy memories, thank you Mr Abbey.
