Margaret AlbertaFITZMAURICE(née McLellan) Margaret Alberta Fitzmaurice, nee McLellan, was born in August 1933 on Fowler Street, Liverpool. She was educated at Holly Lodge Girls College before training as a midwife and nurse at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where her lifelong vocation of care, service and professionalism first took shape. Margaret married Michael Fitzmaurice, a Liverpool-born police officer from Norris Green, in 1955. Together they built a devoted family life, initially in Liverpool before moving to Canada for several years. They returned to England in 1970, settling in London before making their permanent home in Sevenoaks in 1974, where Margaret lived for the remainder of her life. Margaret's nursing career was marked by dedication, warmth and exceptional commitment to her patients. Through her skill, compassion and leadership, she progressed to the role of Ward Sister, a position in which she was widely respected by colleagues and deeply trusted by patients and their families. Even after reaching formal retirement age, Margaret continued to work at Godden Green Clinic well into her seventies. So valued was she by both patients and staff that she was repeatedly asked to return from retirement, a testament to the affection and esteem in which she was held. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael in 2010. She was a loving sister to John and Cynthia, and to Barry, who predeceased her. She was a proud and devoted mother to Andrew, Peter, Stephen and Michelle, and a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren and great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren. Above all, Margaret was a devoted and dedicated mother. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, and in their educational achievements and professional careers. Her love, encouragement and quiet determination shaped generations of her family, and her legacy lives on through them. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Margaret in her later years. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice in the Weald. The funeral service will take place at St John the Baptist, Sevenoaks on Wednesday 11th February at 11.30am.

Andrew and family:

Your Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Margaret, sounded like a wonderful person. I hope her passing was not sudden or long and painful. I am confident that she is in a better place now looking over all of you. As someone who recently lost my own Mom, the best advice I received was to not suppress my feelings when thoughts of my Mom came up after her passing and to take the time to remember her. I hope that her funeral on Wednesday produces a similar life long memory for you as my Mother's funeral did for me -- as I now think of my Mom when I hear the birds chirping as they were so vibrantly on that day in May.

Best wishes,

Steve Baker
