"Alas! Longhope FC finest is no more:
for him the end of play - the final score.
Gone now the legend of them all
who ever kicked a leather soccer ball.
In the air shy Brien was soaring sound,
while modesty kept his feet on the ground.
A Busby Babe - he matured to football gent
on or off the pitch - wherever he went.
Death does not erase his worthy story
what remains is a shining glory.
Football's famous anthem says -
Abide With Me - I paraphrase:
Hold up those trophies to the skies
point them proudly to wondering eyes;
in stadiums all - Brian's triumphs praise
'till Time is called on Memory's days."
