Mike was one of life’s genuine characters, with an awesome sense of humour!!
I have many memories from years ago, when our children were young, and they spent countless hours playing together in the close. Through all those years, Mike remained a constant presence and a good friend & neighbour.
I will always smile when I think of his regular early evening visits. There would be a knock at the door, a cheerful “All right Jude,” and then the inevitable question: “Got a Herald?” He would settle onto the sofa with the newspaper, carefully glance through the pages, catch up on all the latest happenings, share a joke or two, and, of course, pass on the latest local gossip.
Mike was, without question, the greatest curtain twitcher our street has ever known! Nothing escaped his attention, and if something was happening anywhere in the neighbourhood, Mike would know about it long before the rest of us!!
It is hard to believe he has gone, and far too soon. Rest peacefully, Mike. You will be missed and fondly remembered.
Love, Jude & Rhiannon xx
