It says everything about Mike that all my memories of him are good ones, full of fun and laughter. I can’t remember him having a bad word for anyone, nor anyone having a bad word for him. I played in a band with Mike and Steve Dryden at one point and he (along with Steve) were my perfect bandmates, just did it for the pure fun of it and Mike was an amazing part of that. Although, he did drive us mad when he’d go off on some jazz improvisation bass solo mid-song with Steve and me shouting at him just play A. He’d then laugh that wonderful laugh and we’d all fall about. I do blame him though for the ringing in my right ear during every rehearsal due to the massive Trace Elliot gear he used but that was a small price to pay for his company. He was a kind, warm-hearted and generous soul who I will remember with great fondness always. I can even forgive him for being a Leeds Utd fan. Rest easy mate.
