I remember Aunty Linda …

I remember sitting at Nana Butt’s, with Aunty Linda popping in for a cuppa and a chat.

I remember how the room lit up with that bright smile when she popped her head ‘round the door.

I remember the feeling of ease and humour when chatting with her and thinking how amazing this person is.

I remember playing when children, with my cousins on the floor in front of the fire at Nanna Butts, whilst my Aunty Linda sat on the furniture and talked with the adults about less exciting things than our game on the floor.

I remember the puppy she gave me, given birth by her family's beautiful collie sheepdog, that I called,’ Rebel,’ after the dog in, ‘Champion the Wonder Horse.’

I remember budgies flying around her living room and thinking how great it must be to live there.

I remember Aunty Linda hugging and chatting and laughing at family parties.

I still remember the sound of her voice and the smile in her eyes.

I still remember that as time went by and the years turned to decades that my time got consumed by work and my family commitments but I always knew that you were surrounded by a family that loved and cared for you, as you loved and cared for them and you are still loved by your ever growing and ever loving family.
