Such sad news. I’ve been fortunate enough to consider Simon a good friend since we started working together at Loreto College around 20 years ago. We shared many interests, particularly a love of football, rugby, film, literature and politics. Simon was always a good natured and affable colleague. Our friendship survived retirement and we met up two or three times a year for a drink and chat. I shall miss my wise and knowledgeable friend.

Simon was a lovely guy, always knowledgeable about a complete range of topics and always up for a chat and a laugh. He loved his sport and politics and I will miss talking to him about those things. I will miss his general self just having a chat and listening to him talk.

My thoughts are with you Anne and all Simon’s friends and family. Simon will be so missed by everyone but especially his new wife Anne, who is understandably heartbroken. She has lost her husband and best friend. They shared so many interests including their love of comedy, good food and politics. Rest in peace Simon. X
