PatrickMALONEYIt is with great sadness to announce that on Wednesday 31st December 2025, Patrick (Pat) Maloney aged 92, sadly passed away, fortified by the rites of the Holy Mother Church, peacefully at Springhill Care Home.
Pat was the devoted husband of the late Christine, loving Dad of Catherine and Helen, father in law to Steve and Richard, dear Grandad to Jennie, Sophie, Sam and Caroline, their partners, Nic, Jon, Eleanor and Joel and Great Grandad to Élodie.
He was happily married to the late Christine for just short of 60 years and they enjoyed many fabulous holidays abroad and in England, such as Canadian Rocky Mountains, Las Vegas, Panama Canal Cruise and regular trips to Spain.
Patrick had a happy and fulfilling life, he worked as a Maintenance electrician at Howard and Bulloughs and Mullards, Blackburn. He had many various hobbies, he was the Grand Knight of the St Columba Great Harwood branch for 12 years and a member for 60 years, also Provincial Officer for Youth, together with Public Speaking for the Province. He was a member of the Broughton Catholic Charity Society, a Hospital visitor, a Trustee at Maundy Relief and a member of the Hyndburn Speakers Club. He was also a member of the Catenian Association for 40 years and was President of the Accrington Circle 1993-94.
In retirement he took up swimming at the Dunkenhalgh and painting for pleasure. He also supported Christine in her hobby of Country dancing by being her "roadie" carrying her keyboard, microphone, speakers etc.
They both continued to attend Mass together at St Charles RC Rishton, St Anne's Accrington, where Christine played keyboard once a month and St Albans RC Church. He was also a member of the Methodist Men's group in Rishton, who were very supportive of him when he was housebound.
A Mass to celebrate his life is being held on Tuesday 20th January 2026, 11am at. St. Mary's RC Osbaldeston followed by burial in the graveyard, where he will join his beloved Christine. Family Flowers only, donations in lieu of flowers to Nightsafe, charity for homeless young people.
