I was a member of George’s Anlaby Squash Club back in the day, I also went regularly to his coaching sessions at Haltemprice Leisure Centre each Thursday morning.
I always enjoyed George’s company, and although he didn’t mince his words or suffer fools, his passion for squash and enjoyment of the game (especially when he was winning ) always came through, he was a great coach as well, bringing lots of youngsters into the game and helping them through the leagues and beyond. I’m sure there’s plenty still out there playing.
I still play now, and although I lost touch years ago with George I have often talked about him, and I can still picture that disapproving look of his each time I tin a drop shot!
My condolences to Bob and the rest of his family, he’ll be missed.
