Elizabeth followed her trade around the world, emigrating to Australia as £10 Pom in the early 1960s with her best friend Alison Jolly nee Kynoch. She came back to England to complete teacher training before returning to Australia.
In Brisbane she met her husband Peter, the 7th of 10 children. They married in 1974 briefly coming back to the UK to marry at Sileby, and lived in Sydney where her children were born, Bernard in 1975 and Elizabeth in 1977.
