ClaireNEWSUMIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of Claire Newsum, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on 6th February 2026, aged 89.

Claire had lived in Gotherington for over 60 years and was a much-loved and valued member of the community. She taught at the local primary school for nearly 30 years and later went on to lead the Sunday School for a further 10 years, touching the lives of generations of children and families.

A beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and since 2023, an adored great-grandmother, Claire will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend her Celebration of Life at Woolstone Church on 6th March at midday.

In keeping with Claire's wishes, this will be a joyful occasion; please wear bright colours and no black.

Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, may be made to Stroke Association and left in the retiring collection on the day or sent c/o
