Derek was one of the most genuine and lovely people I ever met, I first met him when I was quite young as me and Kev were friends at school.
I remember being asked if I’d like to go on holiday with them and it was Derek who made it a memorable one, knowing me and Kev were both quite competitive he drew up a whole competition of events over the whole week to see who’d come out on top, that was just Dereks way of making me feel welcome on their holiday.
Taking me and Kev to play cricket at Pirelli, and later giving me and Gaz a lift to the pub now and then.
Just a top bloke, who nothing was ever to much trouble for.
All my love to Gaz and Kev and all the family.
You will be very much missed Derek x

So, Dad, I wish I could have read this at the funeral but I would have struggled to get the words out.

As we look back through photo albums we see what fun we had with you and what an amazing Dad you were, regardless of what was going on in the rest of your life.

From walks around Bretby, bike rides to East Midlands Airport, fishing trips, watching us play cricket and football through to the amazing time you spent with your loved grand kids I will be eternally grateful.

My love of music came from you and Lucy continues the musical taste. You taught Lucy how to ride a bike and the leaves on the trees, she will always remember Sunday at 11 as her time with you. You taught Lottie the lyrics to the curry song and numbers by trespassing on people's gardens to read door numbers, amongst other sagely words of wisdom.

Thank you for everything, and your selfless, fun and amazing attitude to life. If I am 10% of the Dad to Lucy and Lottie, like you were to me, then i will have done an amazing job....but still 90% less than you gave me, I am sure you will appreciate the maths.

Love you always Dad
