Colette MaryPLANCHEThe world feels quieter without Colette Planche, who passed away on 4th August 2026 after fighting lung cancer with remarkable courage. She was a devoted wife to Stan, a loving mother to Samuel and his wife Leanne, Amy and Eve, and a grandmother who doted on James, Bethany, Joshua, Luca and Anthony.
Her creativity and warmth made every space she entered feel brighter. When she learned of her diagnosis in 2023, she faced it with a strength that astonished everyone around her. She endured harrowing surgery, and continued through rounds of immunotherapy and chemotherapy as the cancer spread. She fought for one reason: to stay with her grandchildren for as long as she possibly could. That love carried her through every treatment, every setback, every hard day. She had a gift for making things beautiful. Her knitted and crocheted baby blankets and tiny clothes became treasured keepsakes for families welcoming new life. She delighted in children - her own, her grandchildren, and any baby who crossed her path. Her family will remember her as gentle, creative, and endlessly loving.
Her funeral will take place on Friday 21st August 2026 at West Lancashire Crematorium at 2:30pm followed by a celebration of her life at St Gregory's Social Club, Lydiate from 3.45pm. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Colette are being collected for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity
Her family will hold her memory close and honour the love she gave so freely.
