I knew Bayne through family ties (my father George)who remarked, "He was one of the best number 10’s we ever had although Mousy Lorimer wasn’t far behind!" Living in Crieff I maintained a friendship with Bayne and we chatted when we met during dog walks up the Knock or at the touch-line of Crieff & Strathearn RFC. Bayne will also be remembered as a man whose love for rugby went far beyond the touchline. His passion for the game and his dedication to coaching/nurturing the next generation of referees made him a cornerstone of the rugby community. Duncan Murchie. Crieff.

I knew Bayne for the last 20 years or so. He was obviously a deeply strong Christian and as a fellow Christian we worked together on ingathering funds for the Perth YMCA for many months and when I started the Street Pastor group in Perth and Bayne once again was of great benefit and his ability to chat to anyone and gradually bring the conversation towards God was magnificent. We shall miss him greatly but know that he will be questioning greater minds in future . Michael Archibald
