A much respected teacher who it was a pleasure and privilege to count as a dear friend in later years.

Remembering Don who was a lovely, kind, genuine man. A keen gardener and knowledgeable about so much. I was bridesmaid at his wedding to my cousin Margaret and although at a distance, we kept in touch. I'll miss his Christmas letters.

Fondly remembering a really lovely man. Don and Margaret were fantastic friends to my parents and kind and generous to me, my sisters and all our families.

Uncle Don has been part of my life since 1961 when I was born.
My mum and Auntie Margret were childhood friends and went to Honley Grammar school together.. When my mum left home to go to Durham university she and Margaret stayed the best of friends. Uncle Don came into Auntie Margaret’s life when he had “digs” at Margaret’ family home and never left!
Sadly, Auntie Margaret and Uncle Don were never able to have children of their own. My sisters and I were privileged to be recipients of their love and kindness.
My elder sister, sadly no longer with us, was one of Auntie Margaret’s God Children. A roll which she and uncle Don took very seriously.
We will never forget their kindness and help with our science homework! Uncle Don also continued the kind ritual of sending us and then our children an Advent Calendar every year without fail. Always protected by an empty cornflake box!
God Bless Uncle Don you will be missed.
