ElizabethAISTONBURNOPFIELD Peacefully on 29th April aged 87 years. Betty (nee Settrey), beloved wife of the late Harry. Devoted mother of Marion and mother in law of Robert. Much loved grandmother of Louise and great grandmother of Ellen. Betty will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Service at St James Church, Burnopfield on Wednesday 17th May at 2.45 pm followed by cremation at Mountsett Crematorium. All enquiries to Co-op Funeralcare, Stanley (01207) 232154.

Poignantly, I have just discovered Betty's funeral notice from 2017. We would like to pay tribute to her from when she worked at Trico Folberth, Brentford, West London. None of us will forget her outstanding leadership along with Eileen Ward during the historic 21 week equal pay strike in 1976 - ultimately victorious!
The family may know about the book published in 2018 about the strike, TRICO A Victory to Remember? I co-authored the book. A new edition of the book is about to be published. It has many references to and photos of Betty in the book. I would love to make contact with any family members. We recall her granddaughter, Louise (2), being brought to the picket line by mum, Marion, holding a placard, and bawling her eyes out!
