PamelaAKEHURST29.08.1939 - 17.02.2008 It is with sadness we announce the death of our mother Pamela, wife of the late Colin, daughter of the late David and Margaret Williams, sister to Marlene and David. Everyone who knew her would agree that Pam fought illness with courage and determination. She was truly amazing accepting the 'big C' and getting on with it, living life to the full. It was her wish that monies collected in lieu of flowers were to be donated to The Velindre NHS Trust for the use of Dr S Mukherjee and Tenovus c/o Helen O'Neil. Thank you both. Helen, you never failed to ring us back. We have collected over £700 to date. Many thanks to all who have given. We would also like to thank Dr Patel of Dowlais Medical Centre, all District and Marie Curie Nurses and Social Services who helped make it possible for Mam to remain at home where she was most comfortable. Special thanks to Auntie Marlene, you really kept your sister going, meeting her daily, encouraging her to eat meals and doing what all women enjoy most - shopping! We'd also like to thank our friends who have rallied round us over the month. You know who you are and Mark Griffiths of Dowlais Pharmacy. The Funeral Service was conducted by Rev Martin Davies who paid a personal and moving tribute to our mother before a Parish Church which was full to capacity. Funeral arrangements were carried out by Keith and Gareth of Tegwyn Griffiths who, as always showed the greatest dignity and respect. Thank you to Anns Flowers, the floral tribute from us was simply beautiful. Also thank you Elaine and family for the wonderful buffet you provided at the Labour Club, where Mam spent many happy evenings. She'll be sorely missed by her many friends there. Finally, we have to thank you Mam for making our childhood memories happy ones. We feel very lucky and proud to have had you and Dad as our parents. Rest in peace now Mam with Dad. - Love your son Ian, daughter Katharine, son-in-law Chris, grandson Oscar. Kiss Grampa Colin for me Nanny. x
