Goodbye to the Andows

Tel: 01524 736573

From the late 1940's Eric & Nora were best friends of my mother and father, Anne & Dick Abram. Their young families grew up together in Banks, near Southport, and I was born to Anne & Dick (Richard) in 1942. Brian was my "bosom" friend for many years and last weekend I went to Banks to film part of my early life. Part of that story made me think about "Auntie Nora & Uncle Eric" with considerable fondness. Eric & my father were friends from railway days and Nora helped my mother get over some rough periods when she lived in Burscough. Over the decades I visited New Lane station many times and always received the most enthusiastic of welcomes. After my filming last weekend I decided to try and find Eric & Nora if they were still alive. What a sad day it is for me to find that Brian died before his parents. That must have been terrible for them. Then to discover the deaths of Eric & Nora on the internet has left me feeling very sad indeed. I have very fond memories of them both and I am sorry that I never got to say goodbye. At one time they were a very important part of my life but life has to go on and I am sure that the grandchildren will be a tribute to their father and grandparents.

Kindest of regards

Chris Abram
