In Memorium.
A short biography of (Sylvia) Margaret Armer, from my perspective, (Janet) Lynn Cooper, nee Bothams.

My mother, (Theo) Elizabeth Manooch was born in 1921 to Kate Manooch, nee Griffiths, in Dolgellau. Kate died soon afterwards, and her husband left my Mum with aunts and moved to Durban South Africa. Mims' parents, ( our family always knew Margaret as Mims), were childless then and sought to adopt my mother, until Mims was born in 1924. ( She was an only child and never married). Both Mims, and my mother, affectionately known as Doods by Mims and the Griffiths family, grew up together, although, my mother was sent to boarding school, they spent a lot of time together riding when Mum was home. They remained firm friends all their lives.
Mims, became a nurse in the war, while my mum went to India as a physio. Mims later became a personal secretary.
In 1953 Mum married my father, John Bothams, who was in the RAF. They married in London and Mims went to the wedding. My parents then did RAF tours all over the world, but Mum always kept in touch with Mims. I was born in 1954.
When we came back from Cyprus in 1970, Mum arranged for me to stay with Mims, as I was mad keen on horses and Mims was breeding Arabs then, (with the lovely Ali). she was also a well respected Arab judge as well as being a Magistrate. She lived in St Aseph then. I went to stay with her, but she had no horses I could ride, so she sent me to the Tilley's in Henllan. Willy Tilley was then a Master of the Flint and Denbigh hunt, where Mims often hunted, as well as a dairy farmer, and Daphne taught riding to the schools in the area, as well as hiring horses for hunting. I'm not sure if it was arranged, but Daphne offered me a job helping to looking after her horses. I was 17yrs old. Of course I jumped at the chance. I lived and worked there nearly 2 years, I think, feeling part of the growing family of Tuffy, John, David, Vinny and Dicker. So I thank Mims for getting me my first
