Dearest, beloved Nanna to us all,
It’s hard to find the right words to capture someone who meant so much to so many. But if I had to choose just a few, I would say this: Nanna was deeply loving, full of light and warmth, and above all else, she was selfless. She gave her heart freely and completely, and if you were lucky enough to know her, you felt that love every time you were near her.
Family time was what she treasured most. Whether it was a holiday together, a family gathering, a quiet visit, or simply sitting together over countless cups of tea, she brought a sense of peace, calm and contentment to every occasion. She was the kind of person who naturally put others before herself, not because she had to, but because it brought her true joy.
Her hugs were real and full of life—energizing, comforting, and full of the kind of love that leaves an imprint on your heart. Nanna wasn’t just a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother—she was our compass, our comfort, and our treasure.
Today, as we feel the deep ache of her absence, we also hold immense gratitude. Gratitude for the years we shared with her, for the memories that will stay with us forever, and for the love she planted in each of our hearts—a love that never fades.
We love you, Nanna. Always and forever.

Being the youngest grandchild, I didn’t get as many years with Nanna
as some of my older cousins. But the memories I have with her will
last a lifetime.

I remember visiting Hull and spending time in Nanna and Grandad’s
carefully tended garden—so full of flowers, colour, and life. It was a
place that reflected them both: warm, welcoming, and full of care.

Every summer, Nanna and Grandad would come from Hull to stay with us
for the six-week school holidays. Those visits were always filled with
joy—riding donkeys on the beach, building sandcastles, and making
memories that still make me smile.

We had yearly holidays in Scotland, staying in a little cottage by
Loch Linnhe. Days were spent exploring the Highlands and having car
picnics, and nights were for playing card games where we’d bet
chocolate matchsticks. There were other trips too—to Malta, and to
Ireland (where it rained the whole time!). No matter where we went,
one thing was guaranteed: Nanna would be on a mission to find the
perfect gift for every loved one back home—usually tea towels, but
always chosen with love.

Christmases and New Years together were filled with warmth, laughter,
and family. Even later, after I moved away to California, Nanna stayed
close. She became my best pen pal, always sending thoughtful letters
and care packages filled with little trinkets that showed she was
thinking of me—even from across the ocean.

After Isla was born, Mum and Nanna came to visit us in Wyoming. We
explored the hot springs and the Rocky Mountains, and it was
incredibly special to see Isla meet her great-grandmother and form a
bond with her. Nanna always loved being with children, and that love
shone through in every moment they spent together.

Even as Alzheimer’s took hold and she no longer recognised me, she
still had a smile for me—right up until the very end. That’s the kind
of love Nanna gave: deep, enduring, and always present. Thank you nanna for all your love and happy memories love Hayley

To our lovely Great Granny,
We have treasured memories of Tuesdays at your house and you laughing at us dancing around the ‘mouldy’ (mulberry) bush in the garden.
Lots of love, Isaac & Elliott xx
