HildaASHMANLate of Wingerworth, Chesterfield Hilda sadly passed away at home on 31st January 2026 aged 98 years.

Hilda was born in Redcar, Teesside, she relocated to Chesterfield from Redcar in 1974 when her husband became manager of production at British Steel Chemical works.

As a young woman she enjoyed her time working at Middlesbrough telephone exchange and also as a senior clerk at a local insurance office in Redcar.

Music was a lifelong passion. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She particularly enjoyed music from the 50s and 60s. Family time and holidays held a special place in her heart. In later years, she enjoyed crosswords and watching her favourite quiz programmes.

Beloved wife of Robert Ashman who passed away in 2014. Mother to Susan who sadly passed away in 2023. Hilda leaves behind grandchildren Nick and Louisa & Great Grandchildren Eleanor and Daisy.

Service to take place at Chesterfield Crematorium on Friday 27th February at 12.45pm, any donations in memory of Hilda will go to Sight Support Derbyshire, these may be given on the day, made online via www.bhattersley.co.uk or can be sent to
