Carole JaneBAILEYIn Loving Memory Carole was the loving wife of John (sadly widowed in 2024), a devoted mother to Ian and Jane and a cherished Grandma to Sarah and Nana to Lianna, Annabel, Jessica, Eleanor and George. Born in Liverpool in 1937, Carole was the only child of Thomas and Sarah Carter and remained a very proud Scouser to the end. From a young age she showed a natural talent for athletics, becoming a Liverpool Harrier and specialising in sprinting. As her performances improved, she was coached by John Bailey from Manchester. Their successful partnership on the track soon turned into a lifelong love. They married in Liverpool in 1961 and moved to Salford, where Carole competed for England and Great Britain, both at home and internationally. The family later moved to Coalville, where Carole raised Ian and Jane, worked at Ratby Post Office and later at King Edward VIII College and Community Centre, a job she greatly enjoyed. Carole's love of golf began in 1975. She joined Western Park Golf Club in 1977 and served as Ladies Captain in 1982. In 1983 she joined Willesley Park Golf Club, where she became an active member, served as a Company Director and later held the prestigious role of Leicestershire & Rutland County Ladies President from 2008 to 2009. She always found time to support and encourage others in the game. Family was at the heart of Carole's life, and she was immensely proud of her six grandchildren, particularly their achievements in golf, education and careers. Carole's funeral service will take place at Bretby Crematorium on Thursday 19th February 2026, at 11:30am. Family flowers only, please, by request. Donations, if desired, are welcome in support of Village Home Care.
