The obituary notice of Anthony (Tony) BARRETT

Tony was a loving Grandad and Great Grandad, and a truly special part of our family. He leaves behind so many wonderful memories that we will carry with us forever. Some happy childhood memories are of holidays in Spain, Devon and lakes and Grandad had a way of making everyone laugh. His whacky stories and we absolutely loved listening to them, You never quite knew where one of his stories was going to go,We could listen to him all day and will always remember the laughter he brought.He was always there to support us,I followed my Grandad into carpet fitting, even though he always said he hated me doing it. He was incredibly proud of Carl and supported him in making his dream come true by helping him go to Australia to play rugby. He always wanted to see us all happy, safe and doing well, and he was so proud of every one of us.
Grandad always thought Alison was honest,straight to the point and hard working. He thought of Amy as a very old-fashioned girl and always wanted to protect her.Grandad was always trying his best to get a conversation out of Lilly he sometimes had to work hard for. He was also looking forward to supporting Lilly on her trip to Poland,And then there was “Pippy Long Stockings” — Sophie! Lisa, his daughter and my mum, actually gave her that name, but Grandad quickly pinched it and made it his own. He would always ask, “How’s Pippy?
And of course, he always said Charlotte was his very own “Shirley Temple” My Grandad was a man who gave our family love, laughter, memories and stories that will be passed down through the generations. He had a wonderful way of making each of us feel special in his own way, He will be deeply missed by all of us but his love, his laughter and all the memories he gave us will stay in our hearts always.
Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. Rest peacefully, Grandad. ❤️

loving memory of Anthony “Tony” Barrett, the best Grandad and Great Grandad we could ever have asked for.

Grandad always had time for us. When I was growing up, he took me to rugby training every week, watched every match and even became treasurer of my rugby club. He was always there supporting me, and those are memories I will treasure forever.

Some of my happiest childhood memories are of time spent with Grandad, from getting fish and chips at Hornsea and playing in the rivers at Dalby Forest, to sitting with him as he showed me his stamp and book collections. He would talk me through them and teach me how to look after them myself one day. Those moments mean more to me now than I could ever have imagined.

One story that will always make us laugh was on a holiday in Devon. Grandad turned around to warn us, “Mind your head,” before immediately walking straight into the top of the door frame himself. That was Grandad.

He was funny, generous and always had a way of making people laugh. One of his favourite sayings was, “You’ve gotta laugh.”

One of our final happy memories together was Father’s Day trip out this year, when Blake sat on his Great Grandad’s lap all the way around The Deep. We’ll always be grateful that they got to share that time together.

We will miss his humour, his generosity, his familiar sayings and, most of all, simply having him there.
The best Grandad and Great Grandad, loved and missed more than words can say.

Anthony Barrett “Tony” Grandad, I still can’t believe you’re gone. Losing you has left a massive hole in my heart.

At a time like this, you realise how important family should be. Whatever happens around us, nobody can take away the memories, love and relationship we had with you.

I’ll always be grateful for the laughs “ya afte laugh”, your sayings, the fact I used to lay on your belly every week to watch rugby on tv, you took real interest in me and made sure I’ve been safe rite through life. Those times we’ve had are ours to keep forever.

You were loved more than you probably ever realised, and you’ll be deeply missed.

Rest peacefully, Grandad.
There isn’t a day goes by I don’t think about you, all I ever felt was love from you.
