GinoBERNISuddenly on 9 March 2026, aged 85, Gino, of Warren Drive, Caerphilly.

Beloved Husband of the late Nora. Devoted Father of Lisa and Francesco. Much loved Brother-in-law of Gabriel, Rosemary, Paul and Susan, loving Father-in-law of Lucia, and adored Nonno of Rocco and Allegra.

Requiem Mass will take place at 10.30am on Tuesday 21 April 2026, at St Helen's RC Church, Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, CF83 3FB, followed by private cremation.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu, if desired, to Cancer Research UK (www.cancerresearchuk.org).

Sad loss. As a child, and member of the feral town centre teenagers who used to plague Gino on a regular basis in his familes much loved and sadly missed uniquely Italian cafe at the top of town. Many of my childhood memories are of his mum and dad manning the tills and standing guard at the entrance to the shop. I spent many a warm evening in the comfort of his table booths, enjoying what we then called a 'frothy coffee'. The booths adequately huddled six of us around the table and lent a flavour of Italian luxury, a country of which none of us ever dreamed of visiting in the sixties. Gino was a statuesque man compared to his dad, and a true Italian gentleman. Times gone by, when Caerphilly town was a bustling hub and hive of activity. Times gone by ...
