Great memories of you at Aberystwyth 50 odd years ago. Think of you and those times often. Doing a doctorate in my retirement and still married to Jean who you knew and liked.

Chris - memories

I send my condolences to Catherine and family on the loss of Chris.
I worked with Chris on and off over the past 25 years. We met at conferences and other meetings and he became a real friend and a very valued colleague. He was - as has been said by many already this week - a real gentleman, and it was a privilege to have known him, as well as being great fun. Whenever I went to a "clay" conference I always first looked to see if Chris were there as his presence would always brighten things up.
We had not seen so much of each other over recent years and I had been thinking about how I could remedy that. I am very sorry that the opportunity has now passed.
I will not be at Chris's funeral tomorrow but I will be thinking about Chris and about the family.
Best wishes
Rob Brown
