There are so many things that I can say about you. You have helped shape the man I am and started me on my working journey We shared so many laughs and completed so many crosswords. I loved my time working at Brett’s even when sorting through rotten bags of potatoes or lumping Christmas trees down to the garage. It was always fun and I couldn’t wait for the weekends to come. I remember the first night I came across for you to show me how everything worked. Not sure I ever truly understood the scales or the old till like something out of Open All Hours. And as for the ham slicer. You made me feel part of the family and even after I started full-time work I still kept coming back to Brett’s and working on a Saturday and Sunday for a number of months that was down to you and my love of the job. I always wanted to win the lottery and always planned that I would buy Brett’s and to this day even though I have been in the same job for 38 years working at your shop on those Saturdays and Sundays is still my favourite ever job You had it tough throughout your life but always had a smile and always had Carie by your side. I know just how much love you had for Carie, Emma, Neil and of course Martin. Rest in peace Min and for one final time … YO

* WARNING LONG Post...sorry, not sorry *...
Roger Brett affectionately known as "Min" growing up in our house as in :- " go up the shop cus Min might have it/ is Mins still open? and the favourite one of all (said by Mum) "just popping up Mins" and returning 1 hour later " sorry I got chattin"! Bretts Stores was the staple of our family life, it was the potatoes and veg for our Sunday roasts and the 1st shop for ingredients for cooking lessons at school. We knew the family and nearly ALL of the residents of Merioneth St, it was the hub for neighbourhood news, views and a good gossip. I was born in the year of decimalisation and didn't really embrace it but I think I learnt more Maths from Mins old fashioned and still working till than ALL my future Maths lessons. When Mum was diagnosed with Epilepsy she found a kindred spirit in Min and together they would chat for ages about their meds and seizures and recovery stages. Reunited with Mart and say Hi to Mum won't ya!! and thanks for letting us off those odd pence when parents NEVER gave us enough.. love , thoughts and prayers to Tara, Carie,Emma,Neil and the rest of your family and friends.
