This is the message we sent to Christine on hearing the sad news of Alan's death, we wish to reiterate our tribute here; I would not count myself as a friend ,I was probably just a familiar face who along with many others he knew from the Village Pump and the festivals. But for me Alan is a main character from my past, growing up in Trowbridge I started going to the Pump at the age of 16, I even painted some of the walls! Alan came a little later with his famous songs with the sing along choruses, "Dorset Is Beautiful" being one I remember. He brought a special energy to "The Pump" and a quality of guests that put that "one horse town" [without even a cinema] on the map. I used to try and catch his eye just to get a "Hi ya" at the many festivals we have attended. Busy, focussed, dedicated, passionate and striving for perfection is the man I saw. He made my somewhat sheltered rural ,young life rich with the bands and experiences of attending the club,an awaking to music that I have nurtured over the last 35 years. Also bringing 3 children to the festival and now a grand child. Thanks Alan. Teresa & Mick Jordan
