HerbertCALDWELLof Haslingden, known as Bert, passed away peacefully at Blackburn Hospital with family by his side on Wednesday, January 13, aged 82. One of seven siblings, Bert was a devoted father of Ian, Carole and Claire. Treasured grandfather to Kieran, Raven, Phoenix, Harry, Darcie and of the late Declan, he also leaves son-in-law Paul, daughter-in-law Roanne, brother Jack and his wife Shirley, along with nephews and nieces. Bert worked for CWS Footwear, then Lambert Haworth’s before retiring. He enjoyed sports, mainly football and cricket, in his youth playing for the local cricket team, still treasuring his trophy for his 10 wickets for 42. In his later years he loved a good quiz. His funeral will take place on Monday, February 1 at St Mary’s Church, Haslingden followed by a burial at Grane Road Cemetery, Haslingden.
