Dear Paps,

You were the funniest and most caring grandfather someone could ever ask for. You always made time to see us when we were overseas in Portugal and London. Spending time with you was truly special and will be remembered in all the families’ hearts. You always made us smile and feel loved. Your jokes, your kindness, and your warm heart will never be forgotten. Despite being separated by thousands of miles, talking to you on the phone was special to me. It was a way I could talk to you about my victories, losses, what was going well and problems I had – even though you called me Joe more times than I can remember. Through all the tears we shed, we acknowledge that you may now rest in peace. Thank you for everything, Paps. We miss you so much.

Love from Archie.

Even though we lived on opposite sides of the world, Steve was a big part of our lives. He was the most energetic, hands-on grandad and nothing was ever too hard, too physical or too big a risk. Skiing, bike riding, mountain climbing and pedalling boats (too far out to sea), he did it all with his grandchildren and they adored him. I remember Steve once drinking vinegar just to make them laugh. He was a wonderful father-in-law, and I loved him dearly. The memories we have will be cherished forever.
