FrederickCASEAged 68 years passed on suddenly but peacefully in Toronto on 10 May 2008. Emeritus Professor of Political Science and French Studies. Former Principal of New College Toronto University and lately of the University of Guyana, South America, Fred is a Caludon Castle School old boy and for a period taught French at the then Cardinal Wiseman Boys' Secondary School and later on at the Sorbonne in France. Late of Hurst Road, Ansty Road and Tennyson Road, Fred left Coventry to take up residence in Canada in 1967 where in addition to his professional commitments, he was an advocate for several communities including refugees who had been victims of torture. Fred is author of several books and over fifty book chapters and academic articles written in several languages and concerning man's inhumanity to man. Much loved son of the late Sergeant Major Edward Case of the Royal Signals and the late Honora Case who also resided in Coventry, Fred was a devoted family man whose watchword throughout his life was respect for and understanding of everyone's choices in life. Our Fred, 'though a wise and learned man, remained just Fred who loved life and people. A Celebration of Life for Frederick took place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Chapel & Crematorium, Toronto on Saturday 17 May. He will be sadly missed by his wife Sharon, nine children, grandchildren, ten siblings and many others who admired his unique sense of humour and gentleness. God bless you Fred. We shall continue to have a laugh a day. Your everloving sister Lynette & Alleyne nieces & nephews. For information regarding a bursary fund set up by Toronto University, please contact the University or Mrs Lynette Coulston on 02476 621767.
