I only briefly knew Mark in my early 20s, but he has been one of the most influential men in my life. I lost contact with Mark, but I wish I had the chance to say thank you to him for what he gave to me.

I am glad Mark had all of these years to live since his first diagnosis. He is one of the best men I've ever met and he has enabled me to live a life that I never realised I could live.

I remember Mark talking about Danny, Nina, and Lorna a lot. He is the kind of man I aspire to be with my own family. He invited me to his several times and it meant the world to me to feel so welcomed. No one had ever been as kind to me as Mark. I can't thank him enough for making me feel valued.

What a wonderful man to have had in my life. I'm so sad that I've read this obituary so late. A truly wonderful man who made my life so much richer. Rest well Mark. Thank you for everything you gave to me - I'll always keep your values close my heart as long as I live.

Mark, I had the privilege of working with you at Joseph Swan in the maths department. You were the best Head of Department I have ever worked with - kind, fair, a brilliant sense of humour and incredibly supportive of us all. On top of that a superb teacher who made a life changing difference to so many students.
Rest in Peace Mark 🤍
