Fond memories of Alan a true gentleman , he took several singing roles with Cadoxton Opera Society over many years and his professional approach was always appreciated, my favourite role was Iago, a standing ovation every night - rest in peace and rise in glory 🎶

I had the pleasure of knowing Alan, growing up as one of his son's (Dai) pals. He was a warm and wonderful man.

Ill be forever grateful to Alan for fostering an interest in opera and classical music, which has stuck with me since. I have found memories of seeing Alan performing in Verdi's Ernani, in which his was the stand out performance. His deep, rich baritone voice was incredible, even though he was in semi retirement.

Sincerest condolences to all the Charles family on your loss.

Alan, from all the days in Cape Town at the Nico Malan opera House some 50 years ago, I will always remember your baritone voice in the many rolls you took and your and Diane's friendship.

Uncle Alan, RIP and fly high with the Angels, God will love you and protect you, it was such a delight to know you in all these years and you where part of "us" and always keen to hear of all the news and goings on. A memory of you I will never forget is when you performed with me singing "Panis Angelicus" at Emma And Tony's Wedding - you really brought the house down and we where a great team - its proven popular on youtube as well.
Rest Easy and see you on the other side.
