Jean ValerieCLARKEMrs Val Clarke passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family, on Friday, September 17, aged 85. Loved daughter of Leslie and Margaret, devoted and much loved wife of the late Jim, cherished mum of Trish and son-in-law Allen, adored grandmother of David and Paul and great-grandmother of Olivia, Joseph, Isabelle and Sebastian, dear sister of Vivienne, and dearly loved relative and friend of all who knew her. Val was born and educated in Accrington, attending the Accrington High School for Girls, and qualified as a teacher in 1955. She spent her whole career at Peel Park Primary School, 32 years. She was extremely dedicated to teaching and had many fond memories of the pupils and staff of Peel Park. Val was an avid reader and loved solving cryptic crosswords. When retired, she enjoyed travelling the world with her husband Jim. Her life revolved around her much loved family and she always looked forward to family holidays and visits. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40pm. Val has requested that people attending do not wear black. Family flowers only please; donations can be made in memory of Val on behalf of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
