WilliamCLARKSON PILLINGMr William Clarkson Pilling died suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 2, aged 77 years. A short private service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Tuesday, June 15 at 11.30 am, followed by cremation at Burnley at 12.15pm, conducted by Mr Peter Goulding. Born in Bacup where he lived all of his life, he was a former publican at the Deerplay Inn for over 10 years, and was also a steward at Ashday Lea Masonic Lodge for a number of years. He worked as a chef at Mullard’s in Simonstone and helped at the family’s C&B Coal business in Waterfoot. William enjoyed holidays abroad, gardening and took real pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his wife Valerie, children Anne, Sarah and William and was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, and will be sadly missed by all.
