Dear Grandad,
I just want to thank you not just for being the most amazing grandad but a role model, an inspiration and more importantly a friend. As the hours turns into days, days to weeks, weeks to months and months to years the impact you have had on my life will only grow stronger and my memories of us fonder.
One of my earliest memories is sitting on your driveway pretending I could drive your car and playing in the back garden with Ben. I would always love to come over your allotment and help you pick the vegetables, mainly peas and eat most of them as I was doing it. One memory that particularly sits in my mind is when for some reason I was playing in the manure and I found a rotten pigeon egg. I thought it was a wonderful idea to squeeze it and when it popped all over me I have and still never have smelt a smell like it. The funniest thing was that I had to stay the remainder of the day in your clothes that were 5 sizes to big.
I remember as a teenager when you were helping us make something in your shed. On you leaving us too it you mistakenly locked us in. Not a problem but when I needed a wee and had no access to a toilet the problem was all over your shed floor.
As I grew up you remained a consistent influence in my life, helping me out where ever you could and just being my wonderful grandad. For this I will be forever grateful. You have taught me how to garden and grow vegetables. And I still love to this day spending time at your allotment, in complete peace, reflecting on previous memories made and I will continue to do this in your memory.
Matt
