SheilaCOLLINGEIt is with much sadness that the passing of Mrs Sheila Collinge of Lacey Court, Haslingden is announced. Sheila passed away on Saturday 9 November having been admitted to the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital following a stroke at the end of July. Sheila was born in Helmshore in 1928 but spent much of her early life in St Anne's on Sea and Birmingham before moving back to Rossendale in her late teens. In 1948 she married the late Harold Collinge, a veteran of Dunkirk and the Burma campaign and they went on to have four children. Sadly, Sheila was widowed in 1964 but despite life's adversities, she never complained always remaining cheerful and maintaining a positive outlook and cheeky sense of humour. For most of her working life she was employed in the Payroll section of P & S Filtration from where she retired in 1988. Sheila loved to travel and had a keen interest in history and reading. She is survived by her four children, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The funeral service will take place at St Thomas Musbury before interment at Haslingden Cemetery. Family flowers only with donations to Age UK and the Royal British Legion. Further information can be obtained from Booth & Wolstenholme Funeral Service, Peel Chapel, Crow Lane, Ramsbottom.
