STOCKING OR SACKS?

Each child wants a gift from Santa.
There is nothing wrong with that!
Stockings are a great reminder -
But I put a halt on sacks!
And as for those wee kiddies
Who put down a box or two -
Then that is plainly greedy -
And will leave the less for you -
So please all parents everywhere -
Please take my advice that is sent -
Give a small hose filled to the brim -
For that is how it was meant.
Then Santa can make every child -
Fill special but no more -
And, no matter how worthy a life -
There are many so very poor -
And every child on that day alone -
No matter who they are -
Will remember the boy child born to be great
Beneath a silver edged star!

WINTER

There is something special about frost calling -
Something white and diamond bright.
Something odd and quite appalling -
When it catches early light.
Ghost-like fingers bend and call -
So, the frosty rime creeps close
And even in the morning dawn -
Gives appearance of distant ghosts.
And as the frosts meet with the sun -
Tear drops form like diamond dew -
And crisp and crunchy underfoot -
And turn each leaf an eggshell hue.
Breath like vapour in the air
Nothing stirs – the earths asleep.
And every whisper seems to stir
More murky memories that creep!

Blue is the colour of a warm sky or a cold hand. Strange.
