Roger JohnDICKENSA much loved Husband, Dad, Grandad and Uncle.
Our Dad, Roger, was kind, caring and selfless. He was always there for us as a family and his friends, putting our needs before his own.
A devoted Husband, Father and Grandad (Gramps) and Uncle who always took the time to listen, support and help us all however he could. He was patient, even with my maths homework or learning to drive! Nothing phased our Dad, he was always calm, considered and balanced no matter what was happening around him. He could fix anything from a broken toy to my car, answer any questions we asked and make all of our worries disappear. Our Dad was my grounding to this world and the path seems unsteady without him in it.
Dad passed away peacefully at St Mary's Hospice and we will forever be grateful to everyone who helped look after Dad; the team at the hospice and all the district nurses who supported us as a family - you were all fantastic.
The funeral will be held at Robin Hood Crematorium at 10:30 on 11th June. Instead of flowers, donations are welcome to Birmingham Hospice.
Our lives are changed forever and you will always be with us in our hearts Dad with every step we take.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me" With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best
