TomDICKINSONTom Dickinson of Watchet, formerly of Haslingden, passed away in Blackburn Royal on Wednesday 27th May, aged 72.

Much loved husband to Jackie, dad to Paul and Emma, Grandad to Amie, Grace, Ethan and Ralph and Father in law to Joe and Bethan.

He also leaves behind his beloved whippets, Heidi, Jess and Layla.

Tom, born to John and Edna Dickinson, grew up in Haslingden with his two sisters, Jean and the late Ann, and his brother John.

He attended Haslingden St Mary's Primary school. After passing his 11 plus, he then went to St Mary's College RC Grammar School in Blackburn.

After leaving school at 16, he worked for BT at Telephone House, Blackburn. He then worked for Coral's betting shop, where he became the youngest manager in England at just 18 years old. Tom went on to do an apprenticeship in plastering and became a self-employed plasterer, eventually running his own business.

Against all odds, Tom fought his illness to see his grandson Ralph born and to travel back to Rossendale to see Emma and Joe get married.

A private service will take place for Tom. The family would ask for anyone who knew Tom, to join them on Friday 26th June, 2pm at Haslingden Cricket Club to raise a glass and celebrate his life. Please feel free to wear any colour, as Tom wouldn't have wanted everyone dressed in black.
