Kate was a very special kind of person. Determined, resilient, caring and sensitive to the needs of others. She was warm, witty and wise. She had gravitas but could also sometimes giggle like a schoolgirl. With great strength of character, Kate always responded positively, and tenaciously when required, to challenging situations. She showed particular resilience and bravery in facing her own, personal health challenges during the past year. Much admired and respected as a Governor and much loved and treasured as a friend. Missing you Kate and always remembering you with great fondness.
My heartfelt condolences to Chris and their family.

Dear Chris & family. Condolences to you all. I was a prison officer from 1978 - 1996 serving with Kate in Cornton Vale with our paths crossing during my time at Glenochil, Barlinnie and Porterfield. Kate was a well respected Governor with a passion for her work that rubbed off to all who met her. May she rest in peace.

Dear Chris & Family. Sending my thoughts to you all at this very sad time. I worked as acting PA to Kate at Glenochil. I enjoyed every moment. She was a well respected Governor and a very kind, caring person. I was so glad to have met her in September and we had a lovely chat. I have fond memories of her. RIP Kate. Much love : Janet Urquhart
