AlanDR HEYWORTHDr Alan Heyworth, PhD, of Irwell Vale, passed away peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital
on September 13, aged 87.

A loving husband to Rose and much loved dad to Jack,
Alan also leaves his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Laurence and Elaine, and soon to be daughter-in-law Emily.

Alan was educated at Townsend Fold Primary School, Bury Grammar, and BRGS, before studying at
Manchester University. He then worked at Aberystwyth University, gaining his PhD, before returning to the Rossendale Valley in the 1990s.
Alan was a member of a local railway photographers group, and local history and archaeological groups.
He was a lifelong steam engine enthusiast, and could be seen driving his vintage Austin Healey sports car around the town.

A service will be held on September 26 at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am.
Family flowers only, donations to Bleakholt Cat Sanctuary.
