LilyDUSTMrs Lily Dust, of Ravencroft, Helmshore, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 28, aged 96. Lily was married in 1953 to the late Harold Dust, who passed away in 1986 after a long illness, throughout which Lily cared for him. She lived and worked in Helmshore all her life. After her retirement from Barlow’s Mill she supported many national charities, as well as volunteering at several local charity shops. St Thomas’s Church occupied a large part of her life and she never missed a Remembrance Day service in the village. In the early 1980s she moved to Ravencroft, where she helped found the small community there, joining the committee, and helped to establish regular coffee mornings, bingo, Christmas parties and a monthly church service. In the late 1990s Lily met Len Riley, and they shared many holidays together in Blackpool. In her later years Lily would be found knitting blankets for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and The Lindons Care Home. Lily’s large family are saddened by her loss, but proud of the full life she had. The funeral service will be held at St Thomas Church, Musbury on Wednesday, May 25 at 11.15am. Family flowers only, with any donations made to St Thomas Church Musbury, Helmshore.
