JohnEDMONDSONMr John Andrew Edmondson of Droylsden, Manchester, formerly of Waterfoot, died in Wythenshawe Hospital on Sunday, August 7, aged 63. Born in Waterfoot, where he lived until 1985, he attended St Peter’s RC Primary School, moving on to Blackburn St Mary’s RC College. John became an apprentice hair stylist at Antony & Patricia’s in Rawtenstall, later starting his own business, John Andrew’s Hair Salon in Monton, Eccles, Manchester. As a young man he was a top amateur boxer and enjoyed working out in the gym. He was also a big Manchester United fan. He leaves his wife Alison, sons Chris, Max and Zak, stepsons David and Michael, stepgrandson Jude, sister Frances and her husband Stephen, sister Christine and her husband Tim, many nephews, nieces and friends. Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s & St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch on Tuesday, August 23 at 12.15pm, followed by cremation at Burnley at 1.45pm, conducted by Father Simon Stamp. Everyone would be welcome to join the family afterwards at Rossendale Rugby Club, Rawtenstall. Family flowers only with donations in John’s memory to the Motor Neurone Association via the funeral director Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup.

Myself and my sons were really sad to hear the news about John. He was a top man and a fighter to the end. I'm sure that his brave efforts to raise funds for MND research will benefit others in the future. Our thoughts are with Alison and his sons and wider family.
