First Birthday Without You, Grandad

This is our first birthday without you, and it still doesn’t feel real. Not having you here leaves a space that can never be filled. You were a handy man, always fixing and building things, but what you gave us went far beyond anything you could make with your hands. You were always there to listen, never judging,
always ready with a hand to hold,
and your cuddles could make everything feel better, no matter how hard the day had been. Your strength, kindness, and quiet love meant everything to us. You were a rare man and so incredibly special, the best grandad in the world in every possible way. We were so blessed to celebrate so many birthdays with you and those memories will stay with us forever. Unfortunately this is the first one without you the day of your 88th birthday. But we will raise a toast and enjoy your favourite meal, fish and chips on a Friday!
Today we celebrate you, even though our hearts ache. We carry your love, your lessons, and your presence with us every day. You are missed more than words can say, and loved more than you will ever know.
I love you and miss you always, Grandad xxxxxx

Dads 88th heavenly Birthday

Dad I wish that I could ring
So that you could hear me sing
Happy Birthday is the song
Which I’ve sang to you so long
Eighty eight you are today
How I wish that I could say
Love you dad let’s have a beer
Then we’d even have a cheer
But this birthday feels so hard
I can’t even send a card
Cause my dad is up in heaven
Wish I could be back aged seven
Then my dad would still be here
And I wouldn’t shed this tear
It’s the first one without you
That is why we all feel blue
Rum is what you like to drink
We’ll have one and sit and think
Of the dad we loved so dear
And we’ll all give you a cheer
For the memories that we shared
And the way you showed you cared
You were such a precious dad
That is why we feel so sad
I’ll still sing your birthday song
Even though it may feel wrong
Hope you party hard up there
Even though we cannot share
But there’s family for you too
Who’ll be there to share with you
All your birthdays from now on
How I wish they’ll sing your song
So please dad enjoy your day
Till we meet again some day
💙💙💙

Dave : I know from your family you were the kind of person who paid attention to the little things in life and that was so appreciated. Whether it was fixing something that wasn’t quite right, offering help before it was asked for, or simply sitting in silence with someone who needed it - you were always there for everyone. And you welcomed me into your family - something that can’t have been easy. That kind of attentiveness is rare. It made everyone (whoever they are) feel seen, safe, and supported. It wasn’t about being loud; it was about being present. That’s what you were - genuinely present and quietly dependable. You led with strength & action, not ego, and your family loved & respected you so much for that. Farewell Dave and thank you.

Dad
We can’t believe you had to go
Our mind keeps saying, please dad no
We wasn’t ready,to say goodbye
You’re so missed, we cannot lie
Life we knew, has changed forever
But our family, will stick together
Please don’t worry, about our mam
We’ll take care of her, the best we can
We will cherish, and hold her tight
Morning, noon, day or night.

Dad your legacy, will not die
Even though, we’ll often cry
You were such a, special soul
And you were a vital role
In our lives, as we grew tall
You were there, through it all
Always there, to give advice
Never judging, always nice

Memories of you, we’ll treasure forever
Hold them tight, forgetting you never
Childhood days, we’re filled with fun
Time with family, in the sun
With was such, a special place
On the beach, we’d often race
Extended family, would come and stay
Wish time could go back,to those days.

Now it’s time, to say goodbye
All we seem to do, is cry
For we’ve lost , our darling dad
Now we feel, so blue and sad
But we know, it’s for the best
Your body was tired, it needed rest
So thank you dad, it’s been a pleasure
Memories of you, we’ll treasure forever.

Love Tracy
