Doris Constance (Connie)FALKNERDORIS CONSTANCE(CONNIE) FALKNER nee Duckworth On 30th May, in her 93rd year, at Scoonie House, Leven, home since 1997; formerly of Accrington and Padiham. Widow of the late Zbyszek, mother of the late Pamela; loving and much loved mother, mother-in-law, granny, great gran and aunt. She leaves daughter Barbara, sons-in law John and Angus, grandchildren Andrew, Amy, Charlotte, Duncan, Hazel and Jenny, six great-grandchildren and nieces Janet and Krystyna. Always proud of her Accrington roots, Connie retained her interest in Lancashire and local history throughout her life. She was especially proud that her maternal grandfather moved with the times from carriage driver for the gentry to operating Accrington's first taxi business (Holloway's Station Garage) in the early 20th century. Giving up work for family life after the birth of her first child, she kept in touch with friends made during eleven years spent working at the local tax office after leaving school. Educated at Spring Hill Junior school and the then mixed Grammar School, she was one of the first to attend the new Girls' (only) High school. She also recalled the opening of the children's library in Willow Street. She enjoyed getting out in the Ribble valley, especially the Whalley and Clitheroe area where her mother's family were brought up. After moving to Scotland she enjoyed outings round the East Neuk of Fife. Confined to home in her last two years, Connie was still able to enjoy seeing the countryside on TV and hearing about trips made by the family to places she knew, as well as reviewing her extensive family history research with the help of her daughter. Funeral Service was at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on 11th June. Arrangements by Ian Johnston Funeral Directors, St. Clair St., Kirkcaldy, KY1 2BZ
